Reflection of Letter of Introduction

Medicine requires a student to be able to absorb a breadth of information and organize and extract it efficiently. Therefore, although some classes are more useful than others, every class prepares me for the onslaught in medical school that will help me learn a variety of information and become a better doctor. This assignment required me to rediscover my literary background, and I am grateful for that. Since the start of this semester I have been questioning whether medicine is truly the career I wish to pursue. I can only see myself going into the surgical field if I pursue medicine, but this would require me to forfeit every other aspect of life. Surgeons normally work 80-100 hours a week, but I would want free time to spend time with family. Family, above all else, is most important to me. But this assignment helped me remember why I love medicine. The sense of wonder and the never-ending journey it provides. I couldn’t see myself pursuing any other career.
