 Informative Report Reflection

While reviewing the papers of my classmates, the first thing I learned was to be more critical while reviewing written work. I learned to primarily focus on structure rather than grammar. Grammar is important, but in this phase of the writing it was more important that I helped my peers get their points across. It would be more useful for them to know what they needed to improve on content-wise rather than simply focus on grammar— something they can do themselves. In return, they also did the same for me. This also helped me learn what to look out for when reviewing my own writing myself.

In addition, this assignment helped me gain multiple perspectives on my writing. It helped me realize how different people interpret my writing style, and has helped me be more cautious when catering a certain piece toward a specific audience. For example, in this assignment I realized not everyone had basic information about the topic I was discussing. Therefore, I had to discuss the basics and define several terms in order to help my readers understand the topic better, consequently helping my report have a greater impact on them. Not only that, I also had to break down complex information in order to help the readers better understand the complex language that lies in scientific articles. This also helped me better understand the information as well.
